So as many of you know, feminism is having a huge moment. And as a woman I am extremely excited about its potential to combat sexism nag gain rights for women across the world. I recently watched this video by the British Vogue Youtube channel and I think that it has a great statement on the Gender gap when it comes to fashion. However, I don’t think it said enough about the gender gap in the production or textile gathering stage of the clothing industry. Over 80% of textile workers are women. Most are incredibly young or mothers, forced to work extremely long shifts for low pay.
Campaigning is one great way to push for gender equality in payments, but also consider only buying ethical clothing. Make sure that the clothing you wear was made by someone who has rights.
