Bangladesh is the second largest clothing producer in the world and Bangladesh is also the poster child for unethical clothing production. With little government intervention into factory regulations and inequality among genders, Bangladesh has gained a negative name in Sustainable Fashion.

Thousands die each few years due to factory collapse or fire. Workers are paid extremely low wages designed to keep the garment producers in near servitude to the factories. With the industry employing over 4 million workers (mostly women) and exporting 19 billion dollars worth of garments (70% of all exports from Bangladesh), it is time for a change.

If you are going to buy clothes produced in Bangladesh do some digging into the company before making the purchase. There are some companies dedicated to making a change in labor rights in Bangladesh, we just have to find them.
